God told us to go to the darkest part of the city
On Nov. 25th 2011, the 5 Breads and 2 Fish project began inside a parking lot on Omar Ave. in LA’s Skid Row District. Serving over 5000 meals on the first day (VIDEO), it quickly became evident that a more suitable location was required to meet the needs of the community. On January 15th, 2012 the 5 Breads and 2 Fish Restaurant opened on 500 S. San Pedro St. The restaurant was open 7 days a week and served 2500+ meals a day. Each guest was greeted with a simple message: "Thanks For Coming", "Meals On Jesus".
From the darkest places to the poorest places
Sadly, the restaurant is temporarily closed while we search for a new building. In the mean time, a decision was made to move forward in serving the community using the resources God has provided. With over 2 million dollars in annual food donations from partners including Trader Joe’s, Sprouts Del Cabo and Ralph’s, 5 Breads and 2 Fish began holding food drives serving the greater Los Angeles region as well as Ensenada Mexico.(VIDEO) Food drives are held 6 days a week and provide 830,000 meals annually. God continues to bless and has opened the door for a 5 Breads ans 2 Fish ministry in San Diego.
